I've used Freud blades for a while now. I'm particularly impressed with their 260mm. thin-kerf 60 tooth x-cut for the Kapex. However, others have questioned my recommendation and basically stated that they're c##p.
Nevertheless, I've found them to have very good cut qualities (speed, cleanliness & lack of "snatch"), and are capable of about 3 resharpenings.
They're definitely better value for money as a general purpose blade than the original.
I've also used a thin kerf rip blade in my cordless saw (36v), and have positive initial impressions.Sycophant to nobody!

Festool Kapex 1220
Hi, Can anyone advise where we can get replacement blades for my Kapex 120,
I think I can do better than $260 odd for the oem blade. I am looking for a freud or tenryu preferably.

I use Bosch Optiline blades as a back up for my TS75. They are the best cheap blades i have used and at around $35-45 for the 216x48 tooth are nearly as good as most Freud blades, which in my opinion are very overrated. The only trouble with the Optiline is its 216 dia and the TS blade is 210 dia and the first time you use it you will hear a big scraaaaaape Its just getting rid of a little excess alloy

The Freud blades I've been using are available from flea-bay. They make a specialised -5 degree negative rake 260*30mm blade ideal for the Kapex.
The part no. is LCL6M01051. I seem to remember paying some US$50 odd dollars plus postage for my last.
Don't just try OZ ebay, but instead log into the US & UK domains for a greater range and choice.Sycophant to nobody!

Hey thanks for your reply, I have tried the USA site before and just tried ebay.uk but only getting hits on the oem. Maybe i am typing the wrong description I dont know. I search kapex blade and come up empty handed. Have you a particular supplier?

Some other search suggestions: "saw 260", "Freud 260", "Freud saw".

Kapex blade
Hi.Thanks for the suggestions but i tried all that. There are two listed on the Uk site but no international shipping. i asked them and will wait for a reply.
if you have actually purchased one thru ebay in the last 3 years , the deal will still be on file, probably easier to let me know the supplier than all this other.
Just a thought. I'll keep looking.
If I find what i am looking for I will post the details, might help another, who knows.
Thanks people.

Sawstool,
my humblest apologies for not having replied sooner. I've only just (re)read your post asking for the source of supply.
My last purchase was from a british based supplier named "stsimports", which according to their ebay.co.uk listing are now purveyors of nowt but a useless load of old tat: certainly not a Freud blade to be seen there anyway, so I'm afraid I'm about as useful at helping you as i was before!Sycophant to nobody!

hey thanks for your help, I ended up getting two blades from the US.
Timberline tools I ended up with a Freud LU91R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Miter Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating
and also
Freud D1006DH Diablo 10-Inch by 6 Tooth Polycrystalline Diamond Tipped TCG Hardie Fiber Cement Saw Blade 5/8-Inch Arbor Perma-Shield Coated
Total cost A$205 delivered to Sydney incl. 50 for centre boring to 30mm.
I was happy with that.

If you are getting the arbor re-bored did you consider an Amana from Timberline? They look and sound pretty good. A wholesaler I've been liaising with reckons Amans Router bits are better than Whiteside (and he sells both), so you'd have to think that the carbide is right up there.
