Green vac hose maybe worth it?
So, vac hose on my Fein Dustex died, did some research, Festool hoses fit. Bonus!-- get to use the Festool hose end system. Boo!-- pay lots of money. Still, some Festool hoses like the non-antistatic ones aren't too wildly expensive... now, who's got what? Oops, supply chain is still mucked up and stock levels aren't that great right now, plus Festool is phasing out non-smooth hoses. I could order from Festool but I didn't want to wait and even their stock levels are uneven.
Looked around and bit the bullet and ended up with a D36 3.5m smooth hose and 36-27mm adapter. $$$, far too many of them, but I ended up pulling the trigger, and hose and adapter was still cheaper than the 5m D27/32 smooth hose which was the only real alternative. Took it home and tried it. The vac end duly fit, nice!, so fired it up...
Big surprise! This thing really sucks! I mean, it probably pulls twice as hard as it did with the stock Fein corrugated hose. I'm sure it's the combination of being wider and being non-corrugated hose which is making the difference, and I was kind of half hoping for an improvement, but was totally amazed at the transformation. Bit of a commentary/warning on how much flexy 4" hose is sucking out of your dusty's performance (to make an unwarranted comparison to full size dusty's).
So, still quite expensive... but all in all, I'm actually pretty happy with my purchase and its effect on what is now some moderately old hardware. And I'm looking forward to not having to deal with corrugations on the outside of the hose though getting some nylon sheath would have been a much cheaper solution to that if the old hose hadn't basically given up the ghost. But given it was this or do without the vac for a bit, I'm not feeling buyers remorse.
Recommended, if you can afford it.

I recently upgraded the 27mm hose that I had for pretty much all my Festool kit to a 36mm - I was finding the extraction on the Kapex and TS55 not so effective (it also turns out, full sawdust bags don't help either!).
Amazing difference, and I can highly recommend the upgrade to anyone who might be "on the fence".
I got mine as part of a cleaning kit in systainer for not a lot more than the bare hose, so now have suitable vacuum attachments to go with it.
