Heads up: Festool sanders Carbatec Sydney. 40% off RRP (ex-demo)
Was in at Carbatec today and I noticed they had three Festool sanders - 40% off RRP.
They are their ex-demo models, roughly five years old.

Nathan - I bet they had four before you got there......
You've been buying tools again, haven't you?? Hmmmmm?? C'mon, you can tell us, we can keep a secret
Last time I was there I noticed that the Festool display was getting bigger - its gradually taking over the store ! I have to admit that the ETS150/3 sander is my second favourite Festool toy (after the domino of course).

You can nearly read me like a book John!
I didn't come away with one, although a 150/3 or 150/5 ROS would be a very nice addition to the shed, which I have been thinking about. After all, what is the point in having the Festool interchangeable power cord just for the Domino!
I'd say if I had some more money, there would be a likely chance it would have come home with me. I'd assume that although they are five years old, they would have had a relatively gentle life (unless demo tools are treated like hire cars that is).
How do you find the 150/3 (the "3" or "5" indicates the width of the random swivel doesn't it?). In my day dreaming, I've been unsure of which I would get.
Though I did come away with a room dust filter - an early anniversary present from my much better half.
Nathan.

Ahhhh Nathan - I like your thinking (re. power cord). Have you considered a career in sales??
I'm not sure how Carbatec look after their demo stuff, but they seem to be set up for in-store finishing demos (e.g. burnishing organoil) so the sanders would have done some work.
I wanted the sander primarily for finishing, for which the 150/3 is I think the better choice. Particularly true when you get down to really fine grits. The 150/3 does a reasonable job for coarser sanding with the appropriate grit - I tend to use a lot of veneered board, so the less aggressive action actually helps to prevent taking too much material off !! The 150/5 would be quicker for general sanding, and if you only go to 240/320 grit would probably give a satisfactory surface faster. There is a big overlap between the two; both will do most things, but I'd favour the 150/3 for the finishing end of things.
Of course, when you're fully set up, I'm sure you'll have both
