    Default Kapex

Has anyone had any further news with regards to the electrical correction issue with Festool Kapex?

Some weeks ago I was contacted with instructions to complete a contact form for completing the correction issue to date no further contact from Festool .Perhaps there are too many to mention that require the remedial tasks that they are bogged down and you await your turn methinks.

I responded to my notice last week and received a reply suggesting that I will be contacted, nothing since.
I guess that this recall could become complicated.

    You're not wrong there.

Which models and what years of production are they referring to? I purchased one last year and it's supposed to be a version that won't self-destruct. Guaranteed not to rust, bust, bend, buckle or squirt sort of thing but I still worry.

I believe the models affected were made several years ago - last year is exempt as far as I know.

Put this way - mine is just over 3 years old, and missed the recall by a fair margin.

    Thanks Midnight,
I was aware of the problem with the older Kapex failing, mainly in the US and I suspect when used on building sites with long extension leads so I made certain to ask lots of questions before I bought mine. Glad they are sorting things out at last.

Hope they are better than Honda with their "urgent" airbag recall. Mine took over 15 months to fix. Same old excuse "We are waiting on replacement bags from our supplier..." - the company that stuffed up in the first place.

For the last two months I rang the local agent first thing every Monday morning - receptionist got to recognising my voice! Eventually fixed; either I got to the top of the queue or I was the sqeaky wheel...

Meanwhile, a lawyer mate kept rubbing his hands together "If you get killed then we will have a very strong case ..."

I registered for the recall at about the same time. I was using my Kapex on Wed morning, actually wondering about the recall when they called and advised that I could drop it off at Total Tools anytime with a 4-5 biz day turnaround. Of course I am right in the middle of a heavy need period...

Ask nicely, you may get a "loaner" to tide you over while yours is in repair.

    Default recall notice update

I get to drop mine off at Total Tools on advice from Festool Aust so now it will be interesting to see how long from WA to Melbourne & back it will be ,but hopefully all for the good.

Wot this man sayeth. Call the rep (or hit the contact button on the website). They are very good. You pay a premium for Fe$tool because they will do things like loan you stuff. They'll probably only have one demo Kapex, and it'll be scheduled for use around the state, so get your request in early.

Definitely talk to the sales rep, Festool target people that want a quality product and as you are in the middle of a big job they might just come to the party with another saw to help you out. They might even want to sell you a new one at an "advantageous" price. Sales reps can respond well to being talked to nicely, give it a try.
