I just got home from putting a pre-order deposit on a Kapex. Launch price is $1599 INCLUDING GST. No more to pay, drive away.

August 1 is Kapex day (in Melbourne at least). If you KNOW you're gonna get one and are holding off until launch, then you'd best put in your order ASAP. I got the goss straight from a Festool rep that the initial order for the whole of Oz is...wait for it... 60 machines.
Those 60 go to the larger Festool distibutors.

200 more are due 2 weeks after launch which get distributed to the smaller dealers, and who knows how long after that before any kind of sizeable order arrives.

SWMBO barely even blinked when I told her I'd just spent 1600 on a new saw. After a brief pause, she replied casually "Well you'll have to be my slave for a week for this."

"Of course my beloved" I replied with a perfectly straight face "but I'm a little perplexed as to how this will differ from any other week"

When she finally pulled herself together and stopped laughing, I happily agreed. One weeks labour for a Kapex? Sounds like a fair swap to me

Default Basis extension arms DO fit on the Kapex

    Hi,

It is now confirmed that the Basis extensions do fit on the machine. All you need is the connecting plate.

What about the difference in height of the legs?

    Hi Riri,

Which extensions do you mean exactly? This one http://www.idealtools.com.au/prod817.htm or something else? If it's this one, you cold always use a space Sys 1 to pick up the height difference. Although the KAPEX when sitting on the floor can use a Sys 1 as material support because the Sys 1 is the same height as the KAPEX working surface, on the MFT the KAPEX's rubber feet lock into the MFT table top holes I expect it drops a few millimeters. So you might need to adjust the height of the BASIS extension table accordingly, which should be no problem.

    Hi Anthony,

No the one i refer to is the extension arm ( up to 2 meters ) with the tape measure and the 2 legs. As i have adjustable legs, the height is not an issue and i was glad ( after the sales rep came over ) to see that it connects to tha Kapex ( via the plate ) without any problem.

Otherwise Kapex is perfect, easy to use and full of capabilities. In my opinion, it deserves a proper stand. The MFT is not stiff enough.
