Looking to get Festool - Melbourne
Hi Festool Fans!
We are looking to improve our production a bit in our workshop. We are looking to get an MFT3, TS-55 rail saw kit and a dust extraction vac.
We dont have enough room for a full panel saw, and cabinet saw is just awkward ripping sheet goods, and we dont have 3 phase either.
Is there anywhere we can go to demo a MFT system in action in Melbourne?
Buying the lot together is quite an invesment, but really useless to us if they are not bought all together. Does Festool have an option for finance?
Regards,
John

You got to go to ideal tools!!
IDEAL TOOLS Australia - Festool, Protool, Walko, and Woodworking Tools
They got a demo area where you can try all of the festool kit plus more (they did when I was there last anyway)

How far are you prepared to travel? Just Tools in South Melbourne has a good show room but you probably would not be able to try them. I have the TS-55 and track with only a Midi dust extractor and it has been great. The Midi does the job and was inside my budget. Wish I had lashed out years ago for it.
You may need to find some one who has the tools and try theirs and then find a good supplier such as the forum sponsor.

Travel is not a really big issue, as long as they have Weekend opening hours.
I will call up Ideal Tools and have a chat with them on Wednesday, thanks for linking me to their site.
HandyJack, Is there much difference between the MIDI and MINI extractors?

for a workshop, the midi and mini would be way too small.
i have the ct-22 and ct-33. the ct-22 is used for site work. the ct-33 is used in my very small workshop/ garage.
the ct-33 is the perfect size for a workshop.
i also recommend making a boom arm for your dust extractor.
use the search function on the forum and you will find plenty of info regarding home made boom arms for festool extractors.

Justtools are only open Saturday morning.
The Midi and Mini have the same footprint about the same as a systainer. The Midi has a slightly bigger capacity. While they will handle a saw a bigger dust extractor would be better if you are doing a lot of work or connecting a plane or router which put out chips and shavings instead of dust.
Have a look at the various websites or when you are in a show room.
