OF1400 Router
Hi, as a few of you know I (and others on this forum) have over time had a minor issue with the OF1400.
Let me say from the start, this is a fantastic router with many great features. I have now owned the router for 5 years.
I have from early on known about the fact that the copy rings (guide bushes) would not center.
The reason is that the factory fixed setting is not correct and there is no way to adjust as one does on many other routers.
Below is 2 photos that show the problem that produces an offset of up to 0.7mm. This is too much.
I never needed this to be perfect until now. I am starting to use the copy rings and guide bushes for some projects.
I noticed that people in the USA have the same problems and Festool USA came up with a solution. I then contacted Tooltechnic in Melbourne
and they have adopted the same approach. Even with the router being 5 years old, they paid to have it shipped for the adjustment.
The result is great and now I have less than 0.1mm offset and with the way I normally hold the router the offset is less than 0.05mm.
One could attempt the fix for oneself but I took them up on the offer.
I would love to see Festool acknowledge that the problem exists (I am aware of quite a few people that have this issue). There is a solution and it
could be adopted by the factory so that users can center the copy rings.
The service provided by Tooltechnic in this regard was fantastic. After all the router is out of warranty by 2 years. I appreciate the great service.
I now have the perfect router.
Les

Good to hear Les.
My OF1400 was down @ Tooltechnic with Les's router getting the same treatment.
Brett from Tooltechnic rang me Tuesday arvo and told me my router was fixed and being shipped that night.
I'll have it for the week end to catch up on some small projects.
Pretty darn good service IMO.

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they

copy rings
Hi Les
Thanks for the results,I have not checked mine further to our recent posts as I have been away with the caravan keeping SWMBO happy with a road trip for a change.
I will have to investigate mine further at length and see what transpires.
I also have the OF2200 and copy ring set so that will have to be checked as well.
CheersJohnno
