Thread: orbital sanding disk prices???????

I'm thinking of doing the same, so I'm also interested to know whether the extra cost of the material translates to longer life?

I know for instance that identical sanding discs don't last as long on my GMC ROS as they do on the Bosch when used on identical surfaces. Will the festool stuff last longer again?

Ok I'll be the first to give a price. I pay 90 cents each from my local hardware from 40 grit to 1200 grit.
They last as well as could be expected.

60 grit .90c each =$90.00 less discount 100 =$63.00
120 .80c =$80.00 " " " $56.00 plus GST

these are Aust made Norton brand

The Festo sandpaper is head and shoulders above cheaper brands. I get 3X life minimum. Worth the money, IMO.

What I pay is irrelevant, I suppose, since I live in the States.

thats the thing over in the states every thing is cheaper in power tools regardless off the aussie dollar festo gear over there is cheap

you could make a business out of selling sand paper 37$ USA to get a 100pack

the dollar is at 82c i think surly it doesnt cost 50$ to post each pack of sand paper.

so i answer my own on this one

sandpaper Brilliant for paints and varnishes,

sandpaper Cristal, for rapid stock removal on wood, paint, plastics and fillers

sandpaper Rubin for bare wood

sandpaper Titan for solid surface and automotive,

sandpaper grit Saphir for heavy-duty use
