    Default plug it conversion/vac hoses

I think I have a love/hate thing with festool. Their products are way over priced but their system is really well thought out... Having a vac hose in braided sleeve (Amazon.com) with a plug it cable is great but when you are not using a festool tool, its a bit of a pain in the .

Can this product be purchased anywhere in Australia?

Or, I suppose the other option is to also put a regular extension cable in there, but it becomes bulky at the end

Or, I could convert an extension cable to IEC and convert the tools to IEC too so its less bulky but its a lot of work

I thought about this recently while swapping between my festool domino and lamello zeta.

I made my own overhead boom arm with a cheap ryobi vac hose, some braided sleeve and put a spare festool plugit cable in there with it and thought a little plugit adapter would be handy for my non-festool power tools.

Found this on ebay. Obviously any warranty would be void and all electrical work should be done by a sparky.

    oh nice...

I can probably 3D print the housing myself. Do you know the difference between the 2 festool parts listed in that ebay sale?

    festool 489927
    festool 489926

I might just make a mini converter festool plug it to female regular power plug that way I dont have to convert any tools

what size braided sleeve did you get?

I'm not sure sorry. Unless it's something to do with how some Festool plugs have the tiny male ridge on top and others don't?

For the braided sleeve I can't recall what size I got it was a few years ago if I had to guess I'd go with 50mm it is kind of stretchy.

Looks like the one on the right is a plug (male end) and the other (on the left) is a socket (female end). The plug (male) would be the bit that goes on the tool (no exposed contacts that may be "live") and the socket (female) would be the bit that is on the end of the lead that plugs into the power point. It's contacts would be shielded from inadvertent contact if the lead was plugged into a power point. But it's hard to tell from the photos.

...you will need you own festool adapter (photos 6 ) which is easy to source in all major tool store. (sampled beyond tool or toolmart)...

Just an update, I've printed the housing and have ordered the the part from total tools. I ordered the part which ends in 27, the one ending in 26 doesn't even come up on their system.

If this works out I'm going to convert most of my tools and make myself a plug it extension cord so I can have a 10m hose/plug it cord.

Thought this might interest some of you. Makita sander with plug it. Less messy to store not having to wrap a power cable around it only fighting with a vac hose (with power cable attached) than both the hose and electrical cable

Do you have STLs for this that you can share? Is this printed with PLA or ABS? I guess either should be fine from an electrical standpoint but ABS is not as brittle as PLA.

I too considered going down the IEC route but I really couldn't find a supplier that had the right items. I forget what the exact standard it is now; but there is a particular variant that is certified for higher amperage use. That is what I couldn't find.

Download free STL file FESTOOL PLUG-IT • Template to 3D print ・ Cults

Neither actually - I print PETG when I want something stronger. It costs a bit more but has much better properties than ABS in my opinion. Plus it doesnt stink!

So did the 489927 end up being the correct purchase?

C19 are higher power that the usual C13 on most equipment. The C19’s aren’t too hard to find. The high powered equipment the data centre I sometimes worked in (before retirement) used them.

I cant remember which exactly was correct but I gave both numbers to total tools and only one of them worked. I bought that one and it worked fine
