Exactly. I think it's one of those situations where Australians are being gouged, as usual.

Festool Australia has a dealer locator, that might help you. There is a May/June sale going on at the moment.

I've found that once you get past his swearing that Alf at Huntingdale Power Tools seems to do good deals on festool. But all dealers are pretty much locked in to the price dictated by festool

Why don't you try Anthony at Ideal Tools, he's a sponsor here. Great service and has a close tie with Festool.

Yet those who live in the US complain about the exact same thing. We say it's cheap and they moan and groan about the rip off prices!!

There are quite a few dealers in Melbourne.
If you are in a store ask if they can sweeten the deal, like include a consumable or include an accessory even at a reduced price.
If you are unable to get to a store, or are near Newport/Williamstown contact Ideal Tools. They will send your order if over $250 without additional charge. Can give you good advice and will be able to organise your order in a quick time.
Depending on your commitments, an online order can be time and cost efficient.

I bought some Festool gear from Just Tools in Sth Melbourne today. I had already checked prices online and they seemed to be the cheapest going around. They threw in a bunch of extras (including a few packs of blades for the jigsaw, bags of the vac, etc), whcih was very much appreciated. Excellent service and extremely knowledgable.

Just tools are great for anything, not just Festool
