Sym 70 buying advice
Hi all
Seriously considering adding a Sym 70 to my growing stash of Festool.
I am looking for any positives or negatives from anyone who owns one.
Many thanks
Dave

Hi Snap
Its a fabulous saw but it does depend on what you want it to do. It is not an all purpose mitre saw but a specialised saw which has a limited capacity but cuts angles to perfection.
I was sold on the ease of use and the quality of cut which I have never replicated on any of my saws. The resultant mitre is exact, you cannot get a fag paper between the joint so if thin stock is your game (picture frames and beading etc) then this saw is indispensable.
Like all Festools it is expensive. You say you already own a few so no need to repeat the mantra that it does exactly as it says in the sales blurb.
Stunning saw and if you are happy with the limited cutting capacity then there is no finer.
There are a number of threads on the forum re the Symetric which may be of interest.
Regards
Pat

Hi Pat
Many thanks for the reply.
Thats exactly what I want it for - thin stock and and accurate mitres. I really like the idea that you can easily and quickly transfer the angle to the saw when it isnt a perfect 90 deg.
Whilst I do agree that Festool is expensive I haven't bought any yet where I regretted the purchase later. My domino has paid for itself in the first 3 months. I have made doors, gates and much more on site which I would never have attempted before.
Just after I bought it I was doing a renovating job where we had a stable (two piece) kitchen door that was rotten and needed replacing. As it was a none standard size we were told it would be 2 weeks to delivery. Two hours later with the domino it was hung and undercoated. Whilst there are many people here that can do 8 m & t joints by hand, on site, in that time I am not one of them lol
But I have to admit mine gets used for many mundane & boring tasks compared to what the experts on this forum achieve.
Thanks again
