TI 15 Impact Driver
Hi, does anyone know when the TI 15 impact driver will show up in Australia (and how much it might cost)? Very curious to see it in action. It is quoted at 100Nm, which seems very light on (my Hitachi is quoted at 150Nm as are most of its peers). But Festool always seems to be a lot more powerful than they say.
Cheers
John

I notice that UK sellers are already listing the machine, at a pretty good price too. You could save yourself 20% or so in buying offshore, and be the first on your block with a new one!
I wouldn't really be too hung up about the lack of torque. Those that require higher outputs: builders, carpenters, roofers, concreters etc. won't be buying this tool anyway, and there's plenty of quality alternatives from Makita, Hitachi, Panasonic, Hilti et. al. that are a much closer fit to their requirements.
Where the little Festool apparently shines is on second fix and workshop work, where it's compactness, lower power and amazing range of angular and eccentric fittings are best exploited. I think it will be an teriffic little home handyman's tool, ideally suited to smaller gauge fixtures and fittings.Sycophant to nobody!

At that price it should be able to compete with the other big players.

Had the pleasure of seeing it a few months ago in germany with other festool premium shop owners & we had one instore for customer feedback a couple of months ago. All i can say is its not too far away at the moment as its in its final testing with australian tradies. We have a premium shop conference next week so i think it will be on promo towards end of month. I will keep you guys posted once we know more

Cheers. Do you know roughly what the price will be? Also, on paper it seems underpowered compared to others (it is quoted at 100Nm while my hitachi and others are quoted at around 150Nm). Have you actually used it? Would you say it has as much grunt as its competitors? It sounds like it will be twice the price of others. One other question which is a little off topic. The cordless 15 Volt Carvex jigsaws have a 2.6Ah battery. Can you use the new 3.0Ah batteries in the Carvex? If not, will they release a version that is consistent with the new batteries? Seems crazy not to be able to swap your batteries between tools.

Just got back from the conference, price for skin will be $309inc gst & it will come in a systainer, i fell off my chair most... other skins sell for more than that & dont come with a case.
I did use it & can safely say that it has plenty of punch. As usual the germans have alot stricter testing methods hence the lower rating. Besides if it had much more torque you would snap the bits or the sscrews.
There has been testing with end users for the lasdt 2 months with detail feedback from them. There was a mixture of Festool users & non festool users......all of them have ordered on for themselves
We have ordered 200 skins for our existing customer base, they are due in early December
