Transfer of residual warranty
With the FESTOOL 1+2 warranty that remains on a second hand tool does change of ownership need to be informed so that the residual period, is noted under that change or is it merely applied to the S.Nr and the T.Nr of the tool irrespective of ownership?
Its handy to keep a diary or record of warranty periods as well as serial No's on tools for a number of reasons although I've never had an issue to date with the tools.
Festool Australia have stated that only the SNr & TNr are required for the warranty.
It's probably necessary to contact Festool for the time allocation left on the warranty!
My understanding is that the owners details are on record in Germany along with the tools he has in his possession.
Interesting to hear some further clarification or whether there have been issues with warranty transfers?
CheersJohnno

I recently contacted Festool Australia regarding this matter and this what I was told. If the tool has any remaining warranty, it can be transferred as long as:
A: You get a signed letter from the seller stating that they have sold the item to you
B: You have at least a copy of the original extended warranty letter that Festool Germany sends you after it is registered
C: A copy of the original receipt.
This is only a Festool Australia thing and all the above documentation has to be sent to the 'Marketing Department" in Aus. I will be sending my paperwork to them this week and will see if it works.

BTman thanks for this, its certainly cleared up some points.
In a reply I have had they did'nt go to that length in explanation.Only mentioned the serial numbers relating to the tool and not the ownership.
