I don't remember seeing any adjustment in the plastic guides from memory but will have another look tonight. That is where the play is. I paid a pricely sum of money for a fixed square and align the festool angle guide to it. (Fixed square has been checked and is accurate.) Then I place it on the guide rail and square it against the board, clamp the rail down, check for square again and then remove the angle guide. I have found that this really slows the job down and is not that accurate as originally stated. It really slows the process down when the whole festool system is about saving time while maintaing a professional job. I am glad this thread has come up and look forward to sugestions.

We have a winner. That is exactly the type of thing that I think is lacking, squared off one edge and cut from one mark, easy and very quick.

That is a good idea and is along the lines I was thinking.

Default I shall eat my words!

I have just been to the workshop and checked out the angle guide. It sure does have adjustment screws in the blocks to remove the slop when inserted into the guide rails. I can't believe I missed something so simple. Just have to try it now and see how it performs. The most unfortunate part is I don't have any projects in the wings that need it. I will report back when I can. Thanks NT

    hi john.
can you clarify your last statement please.

if you have seen the mfs then what is the point you are trying to make?

if you have not seen the mfs....

    try any festool dealer.
they may not have it in stock, but it is certainly readily available on request.

Found its amusing. sorry for the confusion, mate. I have NOT seen the jig on the market. That's what I've tried to say.

I have made my own cutting table jig for the festool rail guide and plunge saw by simply using a hinge and couple of screws. Had the same problem for making a square cut, though. That's why I found this thread.

I'm glad someone else asked this question because I thought I was alone in having difficulty with this. I ended up clamping the track after critically setting the angle at both ends of the cut.

The thing is, with a long cut a tiny variation will be noticeably out of square.

i dont know if this has been covered.

but, there is always the possibility that the guide rails will move on the workpiece.
i dont trust the rubber strips underneath the rails myself, 99 percent of the time i use the clamps.

if you are using the festool ts-55 to make kitchen cabinets, the rails will definitely slide on the smooth melamine surface.

i highly recommend using the fs-hz 160 lever clamps.
