    Default ts75 limits

bought a ts75 recently with couple of 1400 guides and ct22 extractor . They were bought to cut 50mm thick straw panels (durrapanel)which I use to make recording studios. The saws I have used on previous jobs were 7 1/4 hitachis which I would get 1 or 2 projects out of as these panels are quite tough on saws.
Well the ts75 made absolute mincemeat out of the 32mm mdf which I use to make the studio floors from the guide system works a treat and just a skerrick of dust escapes the saw.
So it was with high hopes I started cutting the straw panels worked great for three cuts then after the third panel of straw the blade actually twisted and and started cutting into the guide. I thought at first maybe i had slipped off guide and lifted saw up and sideways so started again and sure enough the blade was bending in the panel WOW
And it was working so well. Any how I will change the blade over tomorrow as was the standard blade which came with the saw so will try some higher and lower tooth count and see what happens just wondering if anyone out there has any thoughts
    thanks

I'm wasn't familiar with Durra panel so I looked it up. I assume the density and thickness of the products makes it so difficult to cut. I have two recommendations you may want to try. First is a different blade (and you need a new one anyway), I think the solid surface/laminate blade 495382 would be a good choice. It has a triple chip tooth design that stands up well to denser, harder materials. The second thing that might help is making the cut in several passes. With the guide rail this won't be hard to do. I'd try two or maybe even three passes. If you damaged your guide rail you may want a new splinterguard (clear plastic (or black rubber) edge for the rail).

Good luck and be sure to let us know how it works out.

brice has given you some great advice fubar.
if for some reason the solid surface blade does not work. i recommend using a panther blade. less teeth may be better and try using a slower setting on the ts-75 such as 3 or 4.
i am only guessing so it will be interesting to see how you go.
please give us an update on which blade will use.

the last time i cut durra panel was 4 years ago. i think i used my trusty old makita 9 1/4 inch monster.

do you use the durra panel for the ceilings also?
and what do use for the floor in a recording studio?
how do use fix panels to existing studs and ceiling joists?

i would love to build a recording studio for myself. all advice is welcome fubar.

    regards, justin.

I've never worked with the stuff so you may be right Justin about a blade with fewer teeth, a rip blade or the 36T universal blade. The high tooth count of the solid surface/laminate blade at full speed could cause a lot of heat built up cut at full speed.

well swapped down to the lower tooth count and thats done the trick and I am doing with two cuts thanks for the info and advice
justin re floor construction it all depends on the specs for the job same as walls but I'll just go through the current job for you
the room is approx 3.2m x 5.6m and 2.6m high. Ideally should be twice as long as wide but due to site restrictions this is what it is.
The floor consists of a 32mm mdf layer, then a 15mm compressed cement sheet, then another layer of 32mm mdf these are all screwed and glued together with at least 300mm overlap and all sit on 25mm rubber pads.
The walls consist of two layers of the durrapanel making a wall 100mm thick the outside layer is screwed and glued to the inside layer which is held together with steel C channel.
the ceiling also consists of 2 layers of panels sitting within 150mm steel duplex beams.
the idea is to separate the room from the existing room as any contact allows sound transfer.
if it is a high spec room we will actually build an outer shell of durrapanel leaving a 100mm airspace
hope I didn't bore you again thanks for advice
