I used the 25mm for all, including the 20mm Mirka hose. See pics above - you will recognise the connector. This size did not fit the 35mm Bosch (in blue), and so I ordered the next size up. All done now ....

    Default Hiss! Hiss! Beware!

Updated the hose with the new cover.

    Nice!

    Looks like a python. Beware!

Used this sleeve: 5M PET Braided Black&Green&Yellow Expandable Sleeve Wire Cable Sleeve High Density Sheathing PC Cable Organizer 4 25mm|Cable Sleeves| - AliExpress

Just over 5m (about 5.2) so lots of fat. Easy to trim. Used a bit of sticky tape before the cut to keep the fraying under control. I used the hose right to the inside of the first part of the hose nozzle then wound the outer part over the top (in a screw motion). It slipped over with a micron to spare.... so it looks very neat indeed.

Most pleased with the upgrade. It doesn't catch on everything any more!

Thanks be to Derek, who again encouraged me to spend yay!

    Hi Woodpixel
    Thanks for your post
Could you advise what diam sleeve you purchased and what diam hose you fitted it to? I assume you bought the 20 or 25mm sleeve for a 27mm Festool hose
    Thanks
    Ron

The 27mm Festool hose with the 25mm sleeve.

    It fit very nicely indeed.

I followed Derek's trick of fitting it, but my first time I used heat shrinkie tube. It looked GREAT.... but it didn't fit in the sockets. (oops!) So, I trimmed that off and it was fuzzy (oops!). The individual fibres of the sleeve are tough little buggers, so I used a bit Scotch tape wrapped around once, then trimmed the sleeve with with scissors and it came out great.

It was only a matter of placing it about 10mm back, so the inner festool wind-on-socket sat snugly. Then the second part twisted nicely over the top of the sleeve and tape using a firm-but-sure twisting motion. Its almost as if it were designed to have a sleeve on it in the first place

Once that was done the outer large socket simply popped on.

Overall, a simple job with a short learning curve. No doubt one will botch it the first time or two until the knack kicks in, but there is a fair bit of spare for such practice.

I've just (now) ordered another sleeve to do the other 3m hose. Its slow post from China at the moment (for a few... reasons)

Have to admit, it looks most professional and I'm surprised at how it stopped the infuriating rrrrrvvvvvvv and table-edge-grabbing while using it today.

Secondly, it wont matter if it gets a bit beaten up with use over time... simply pull it off and pop on a new one. Nice!

    Thanks Woodpixel
I purchased the equivalent kit advertised on UK ebay. I think it said 35 mm and it is very (too) large for a 27mm hose. Fits vey loosely and is so stiff you can't really pull it tight enough to shrink the diam. Would probably suit a 36mm hose better.
Will order some 25mm hose from aliexpress on slow boat from China
    Cheers
    Ron

Oh bugga Woodpixel, mine's only plain old black without the python stripes. Yours looks so much cooler.

Can you get it to suit 4" flexy for the dusty.

Its China! One can get ANYTHING.

Even if they don't have it, ask. They invariably do have it, but it isn't listed as its a PITA. Most of the more professional-looking shops are fronts for AliBaba - which is their version of a B2B mega-portal.

e.g. 100MM Wide Braided PET Expandable Sleeving Cable Wire Sheath Black and https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000855254281.html

Well I ordered two PET Flexi hoses from as specified by WoodPixel from Aliexpress. They were delivered in just a week. Superb service.

Unfortunately I have problem. I ordered two 5m x 25mm as specified to suit my 27mm x 3m Festool hose. However when they arrived they only measure 5m x 20mm flat dimension.
Ok they expand to just allow the 27mm Hose to enter but they are very difficult to get to slide along the hose and because they have to expand to get the hose inside they shrink to only about 2.3 m long. The packaging indicates they are supposed to be 5m x 25mm but I think they have actually sent me 20mm.

Woodpixel If you have a small section offcut could you please flatten to the shipped size and measure the flat width. Interested to know if yours are 20mm or 25mm flat width. I take it that your 5m length apparently covered 3m 27mm Festool Hose.

I did order the 25mm x 5M. Ordered another one last week.

I dont seem to have any left over. Don't recall tossing it, but it isnt where its supposed to be... sooo....

From memory it was a small expansion, not huge. To fit it over was as Derek said - work it along bit by bit. From memory I had about 20cm left over upon fitting it to the hose.

ONE THING I did find, which may be your case, is the damned sleeve had a habit of folding over itself as it was slid on. I noticed this as one section felt more rigid and thicker. It had tripled itself up over a 30cm section. It had to be "unfed" a bit to get it right.

    Hi woodpixel
My braid is so tight its very hard to get on and it would be difficult to get overlapping by 30cm. Pretty sure they have sent me 20mm not 25mm

I got some 25mm from a different supplier and gave up trying to get it on after about a meter of struggle. It doesn't expand much, so I think you need to go the next size up to be safe.

Didn't think to check the measurement - I'll do it when I next get down to the shed
