    Default Walko, Worth IT?

Ok not Festool but seems to be come up in various Festool forums.

The Walko workbench system. Has anyone got one? What do they think of it?

I'd be interested in any feedback on them.

Guess I'm probably the only person in Australia who has had one (the demo model was in my shed for about 6 weeks or so)

I did an initial writeup here, and a quick (handheld) video. I was planning on more, but just ran out of time before Ideal Tools needed it back. (My bad). My "Dust" video also features it, as I used the Festool Termite to 'vapourise' an MDF board

It was very useful as an on-location workbench (I used it for demonstrating at "the alternate woodshow" at the Woodworking Warehouse), fits in the back of my stationwagon, and I was able to change the setup to suit my workshop's requirements.

The height could be adjusted over a wide range to suit both the task at hand, and the height of the operator which is a definite benefit.

I particularly liked the low-profile surface clamps - they were an excellent addition.

Bottom line- I was definitely sad to see it go, and in the long run for my workshop I probably would have changed the shop around to accommodate it, and have it fixed to the wall so it provided a good multilevel work platform without sacrificing floor area. I think it would have also benefited from that, giving it more rigidity when the circumstances permitted. If using handheld power tools on site, it'd be a definite asset.

With the addition of extra brackets (available separately), you could make up all sorts of jigs to fit the system which would be interesting to see what people can come up with.
