I wonder how that would help with cutting aluminium (aluminum) and mild steels? Cutting aluminium with an SCMS or CMS makes one heck of a mess, the fine dust gets airborne too.

Nope the supporting poles are higher since the Kapex is standing on the MFT and the table top of the Kapex is aprox 15 cm (by sight) higher than the table top of the MFT. The supporting poles of the basis (and thus MFT version) is lower i.e. the same height as the table top.

But perhaps you can buy the poles for the Kapex as spare parts if you do know the partnumbers.....

Yes they are actually on sale. Might take perhaps a couple of weeks before the dealer has your order but if they are on the website, they are on sale.
Importing one from a official dealer? I don't think you will succeed. Festool is very keen to protect her local markets from parallel import. Especially if prices from the exporting country are lower.... But never tried is always a miss.

If i may say so Festool got it wrong to sell the Kapex sitting on the MFT. I fear it is going to be way too high to get a good grip. In my view the height of the cutting table of the Kapex should be at the height as the MFT. that way i could use my extension arms .

    It's only my humble opinion.

Ahum excuse me the height of the Kapex table is exactly a systainer 1 higher than de table top of a MFT...

Well and if you already have an extension for your basis you can always built your own Kapex stand which makes sure the Kapex table is aligned with the table top a basis or MFT.

I'm not sure if the basis extension (apart from the height) really fits the Kapex. I have to see this Kapex thing for real to be sure.

The release date in Holland is the 1st of May, according to the Dutch Festool site. But I haven't been to the hardware store that has the large festool assortment in weeks (It has a festool shop-in-shop, and is supposed to stock the entire festool range). The store I more frequently visit didn't have any, nor any documentation.

There's a video up on the German festool site: (link says domino, but it's about the Kapex) link (the info page has an English option)

At least it's not 01 April! Festool USA finally changed that for the release of The Dom.
