    Default 3rd bandsawn box

How can anyone not like doing these. The answer they cannot. What else can you take a cutout from another project and make something totally different, but then it fits right in.

The 1st pic is of a Pencil/Pen holder and Business card holder I did for my wifes desk at work (did it using a bandsaw as well). Took the cutout from the Pencil/Pen holder and figured I could make a simple small bandsawn box (did not do anything to the outside shape). The pic's are a work in progress. Let me know what you think so far.

As soon as I get the handle done and put the 1st coat of tung oil on it will post.
    See ya'll later!!!!

They look neat, nice laminating work there , they only thing I don't like is the finish on the pencil box and card holder but that's just me, no reflection on your work.
    Cheers

I do like the fishy box, the pencil/pen holder in my opinion is too glossy and is tending to look like plastic. You should start and try a larger box

The finish is 2 coats of tung oil, and 2 coats of wipe on poly. I think the reason it looks so shiny is cause of the camera

What model of Bandsaw and blades do you use for work like this?

    Naturally I like the boxes.

since I have little funds available I use a Ryobi 9" (only cost $99.00), which is fitted with a 1/8" blade with 14 - 15 TPI

I like those checkerboard boxes. That's a great way to use scrap wood. I've thought about laminating squares myself. Did you have any trouble getting them to be exact, so the glue holds?

Chickpea26, I cut full stock to stips to match in width, so glue up was pretty easy, and it seems to be holding really well, I just used regular yellow wood glue.

Here are the next steps in the process, added a handle, sanded what seems to be a million times, and added the 1st coat of tung oil

Here it is the last pic, after I added the wipe on poly to match the others. The wife wanted it to match the others (pencil/pen box and business card holder).
