What Blade?
Love the box, what blade did you use?
when i tried to do something similar with a 1/8th blade, the blade snapped. i have not been game to try it again, scared the crap out of me when the blade snapped the back of my hand.
I could only look on in horror, I thought that I had ripped the back of the hand open and need multiple nerve and tendon repairs. I was fortunate to not even have a scratch. I assume that the back of the blade struck me.

Second box, getting to like this.
design courtesy of Alf Thompson (who's help has been wonderfull )
Myrtle Burl " local stuff " box 220x 125x 95.
The body broke in half, and draw faces broke in to several pieces.(the natural faults in the burl)
got it all back together ok ( i think )
now the sanding and eee and hard shellawaxLast edited by ptc; 30th June 2006 at 11:02 PM.

I love these boxes, PTC. The lutre and shape of the huon pine were wonderful, and the burl looks good too.
I think I can understand how these things are made, but I'd like to see some progress shots, if possible. Now that I''ve got a bandsaw, I might have a go at one. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

zenwood,
I am in the same situation as yourself .... ready to take the plunge into the first bandsaw box. I was given the following book which has some great plans and easy to follow, in depth step by step instructions. Although they don't appear difficult to make the book would still be worth a read/purchase.
"Building Beautiful Boxes With Your Bandsaw"
