Zenwood.
A bit with belt sander, and rest by hand.
Have an electric knife, must get round to glueing sanding paper on it.
Alf put me on to it as being very handy ( Wife picked mine up at a garage sale
$10. like new.)
i bought a GMC palm sander, difficult to hold, but ok for back and bottoms.
have not got a drum sander.p.t.c

Another question: how do I convince SWMBO that she doesn't need it in the kitchen any more (even though it's been unused for the past 7 years)?

very nice boxes ptc, damn clever idea
i am suitable inspired to have a go with my recently acquired and pre-loved bandsaw. my list of projects is growing at an almighty rate
just need to get some suitable blades and there will be no stopping me
how did you hollow the drawer or did you bandsaw it out and glue front, back, sides and bottom together ?
cheers

I got Ventura's book, and it's great. The templates are starting to look familiar...
One question, though: when cutting off the backs and fronts of things (box as a whole or drawers), do you need to sand (or plane) them flat before glueing them back on. The book doesn't mention it, but if you just tried to glue the raw bandsawn sliced back, don't the saw-ridges lead to a crappy joint? Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

I have only made two boxes so far,
i dont do any thing to the cut surfaces before glueing.
i think the type of glue is the secret.I will quote from Alf,(sure he will not mind me passing this on)
"Never sand any Surface you are going to Glue back together"
He uses GarretWade 202gf because it is the best"
i am unable to get it over here, and i am using Triton yellow P V A.p.t.c
