    Default been awhile--Star Trek

To quote the lyrics from Star Trek Enterprise
"Well its been a long time"
I have been busy chomping wood for my brothers slot car track. What a major job that is! Also airbrushing the odd slot car, must admit I have been enjoying that.
Anyway a house warming presie was in need of being created.
    Objectives:
    Trek fans
Look scfi but also ancient, relic like, like its scarred and been thru the wars a bit.
    Texture
Humorous. They are (1)a young couple, newly married and just into their first house. I took the classic StarTrek "We are Borg" phrase and gave it a twist. Then on the back I took the (2)"Resistance is Futile" and added, in another script language which they will have to find and translate, (3)"time to replicate".
Put the three together and my mischievous nature comes out

    Wood:
Merbau, reclaimed and laminated. Star on front is 400 year old Huon Pine.

I had some trouble accurately routing the text on the back, so I went over it with poker. I wanted it and the "Borg" hand print to look like it had been heat stamped in. After rounting out the hand, I poker worked/burnt the inside of the lines....it kinda worked.

Being trek fans,, and just back from Adelaide Comic con they were wrapped with it. But still trying to figure out the inscription: tee hee.

I don't know how much work you put into that band saw box but that is truly amazing. The design is very interesting.

    I like it. Nice one.
You definitely achieved the 'relic' look - it looks ancient.
(The translation will keep them busy, too.)

Nice work, it is functional and well designed, it may well become a treasured gift - well done!
