Default A bandsaw box as a homage to Kintaro Yazawa

    Hi

You may recall some little time ago we were all agog about the unique woodworking joints of the master craftsman Kintaro Yazawa. Some of his work can be found at http://www.eurus.dti.ne.jp/~k-yazawa/english.html

In addition to box and furniture making Master Kintaro also does scupltural work. One piece that impressed me was a six foot tall pyramid shaped work.

This four drawer bandsawn box is dedicated to craftsmanship and beauty of his work. This work is about 30cm tall, of Australian Red Cedar, with four "push through drawers" which are secured by four keys that can be seen in place in the second image.

Thank you Master Kintaro for the inspiration.
    Tony Ward
Now a power carver and living the dream.

    Tony,

This truly is an inspirational work for you and is now passed down to us pesants. The Master teachs the student. The Student becomes the Master. Now you are inspiring and teaching us!

This box is elegant, simple and classical all at the same time, with excellent flowing lines, geometry and figuring of the wood!

    ICN,

    Bill

Wonderful work as always Tony. Reminded me of a Rose Mahogany tallboy I saw at Dorrigo once and set me to wondering what the biggest bandsawn box you've done is???
