Default First go at bandsawn box

This is my first go at making bandsaw boxes it is Western red cedar and Crows ash 130mm dia. They appear to be as addictive as other forms of wood work I am currently working on another couple.
    Regards Rod.

    Rod,
I love the contrasting colours and the finish you achieved.
Daunting and intimidating success for your first effort.
    Well done.

Wow, Rod. If that's your first attempt at this kind of work, the quality which you've produced really says something about your overall skill as a woodworker.

    Very well done.

Thanks all for the kind reply's,
I am pleased with how this came out except for the handle on the western red draw I reversed the colors on the handles but I should have turned them with the grain running the other way, the end grain on the crows ash doesn't show the color as well as if it had been long grain so it doesn't stand out as well. I spent a bit of time setting out the shape of the box so all the curves are true radii I think this always helps with the look of any item if the curves blend in well.
    Regards Rod.

It really does show the time and effort you have put into this bandsaw box.

    Default Good one!!

Good one Rod, lovely crisp curves and well finished, probably one of the nicest examples I have seen.
My question is: What are you going to do to surpass this??
    Thanks for sharing,
    Cheers, Ian

    Hi Not enough!! and all,
The finish is mirotone satin clear lacquer sprayed on. I got a 3rd place in our local show here in Gympie with this piece and am very pleased with it. Thanks Nanigai yes the curves do sit well,my second box is finished and currently entered in the woodwork competition at our woodnmusic festival which starts today and is a collaboration between our wood work club in Gympie and the Australian institute of country music which is also in town. All of the wood items had to have a music theme and the music work has to have a timber connection.
    Regards Rod.
