    Smile Bandsawn Clock

    One from me.
Made from swamp kauri from the North of New Zealand and carbon dated at 30,000 to 45,000 years old. Finished with Wattyl Isogard lacquer at 30% gloss level.

    Rhys,

A lovely new (and yet very old) beauty!

What's the timber like to work with?

    Cheers!

    What others said. Super.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

    Default What a beauty

    What a beauty Hobbyhorse.

You can be the best woodworker in the world but without a good design all is wasted.

    Keep up the good work.

    Default Swamp Kauri

    Auld Bassoon,
The swamp kauri varies enormously in both its colour and workability. Because it has lain in the swamp for all those years the resins are generally washed out and it can be quite porous. Having said that you can get some that is quite heavy and with reasonable density. It is often hard to machine because of the grain changes and I have to sand the boxes, going through the grades of sandpaper to 400 grit before I spray them. Long live the vertical oscillating sander!!
