Not a box
This is not a box but it seems to belong to the band sawn genre. It is a dice tower.
I had never heard of one until my son asked me to make him one. When I googled it I found hundreds. Most were just square towers with baffles inside and with various decorations, used by people who play dice games and want an unbiased "throw". I thought it would be easier to make one with a band saw so I just copied what I saw. The last photo shows the inside before it was glued up, and when I cut the baffles I realised a "chimney" with bends would do the same thing, and of course the shape could be anything you want.So this one is a sort of prototype for me.
I will probably play with the idea for a bit, until I get bored with them, then return to real bandsawn boxes.
Has anyone else made a dice tower or used one?
Regards,
BarrieThis bit should be completely ignored, although I know that despite this warning, you will read it through to the very end.

What a great idea Barrie! Kinda reminds me of the marble tower my grandad made years ago.

Very neatly made. I love the way the tower fits into the base too
