    Default Box in Blackwood

    Hi Everyone
This is a box that I made sometime ago and gave it to my daughter, she has photographed it and sent the photos back to me, The wood is Australian Blackwood finished with Estapol wiped on with a cloth.

Very nice Don. I really love bandsaw boxes.

If you like wiping on poly, have you tried the Minwax Wipe-On from Bunnings ? It's good stuff.

Nice work. I hope that all of your work finds a good home and it is not exiled to the outdoors.

That looks very nice Don, well finished too.

    Care to give some dimensions?

Like Watson, I would like to have a go at bandsawn boxes, but there aren't enough hours in the day, and I'm retired!

very nice. Interesting interplay between the stripes in the wood, and the curves in the form.

would like to see a bigger photo.

    Very different, a stunning piece.

You do realise that you're moving from the realm of bandsawn boxes into the world of sculpting? It won't be long and you'll have to start posting in the wood-carving forum (boxes carved on a bandsaw) instead of here, to stay on-topic!
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Default .

To try and answer the questions, blackwood is an acacia (wattle), it is used a lot in furniture and is easy to work, some are alergic to it. The size of the box is aprox 9" x 12", my daughter has it now and won't part with it so I can't measure it exact. I will attach another photo, please let me know how it is. The forum quotes a size for photos, is the measurement in metric or pixels?
