Box from Maple
This is my latest effort, made from maple, which one I don't know. 7" wide, 4" high and 3" deep. I have been thinking about this one for some time and had discussions with another box maker.
The decrotive piece on the front is covering up a stupid mistake, I removed the inside of the top compartment before I removed the front, hence the cover up.
The timber used was not a good piece as it cracked after I put the first coat of finish on. These cracks in the timber are internal and do not run to the edge of the piece.

Excellent work. you would have done more justice to the piece had you used a dark plain background for your picture. The pattern on the material distracts the eye.
nevertheless. a really nice piece.Reality is no background music.

Love the lid idea. Great combination of drawer and sliding lid.
