A few Boxes
I thought I would make a few different boxes for Christmas presents I still need to get more control of saw but I suppose this comes with time and practise the boxes still look good but could be better. The timbers Peppermint Gum, blackwood and a couple I have know idea, out of the fire wood pile at a mates place.

What a great display. Some are beautifully proportioned and some have a lovely touch of whimsey. I especially love the one in the second photo - can't get the idea out of my mind that it is some kind of small extraterrestial creature in supplication from an earthling. I have been thinking of trying some bandsawn boxes but haven't got enough skill or control to manage a small circle with the 1/4 inch blade that is the smallest I can get on with my roller bearing guides. Tell us more about your set up to get those results.

Very well done, I particularly admire the second box = you've done good with that design and execution!
I also like the others, they will I expect, be well recieved at Christmas.Tony Ward

re your comment . . I have been thinking of trying some bandsawn boxes but haven't got enough skill or control to manage a small circle with the 1/4 inch blade that is the smallest I can get on with my roller bearing guides.
1/4" blade - no problem when making bandsawn boxes. To acquire the skill is a matter of practice and knowledge.
If you are interesting in learning more of bandsaw set up, their use and blades there are a number of very good examples available here ~ http://www.tonyward.org/index.php?op...d=38&Itemid=90Tony Ward

Thanks for the kind comments guys they are a lot of fun to make
Fencepost2 - Tony Ward is definitely the best one to talk to about bandsawn boxes, I've only done the ones on this thread and a couple of others and they are no where near Tony's standardRobbie
