Five of Hearts
G,day all, One more band saw box. I obviously forgot how much hand sanding is involved since I made the "Raindrops" box. Memo to oneself- no tight corners, no tight corners! It measures 7 1/2" x 2 3/4" x 2" and made out of pine, with dark mahogany stained hearts. Cheers Harry

Excellent work and design, really like the contrast as well. Reviewed your other posts, not sure which I like the best - they're all great.

Memo to Torchwood, the ability to create tight corners is an indication of bandsawn box making competency, well done!
On a number of occasions I've incorrectly glued the back onto the cabinet and had to bandsaw it off again, on each occasion fortunately the loss of timber was not significant.
I like the design, there a number of variations of this design that come to mind, I look forward to seeing them on this Forum - keep on.Tony Ward

Love the design!
In pic 6, is there a reason the grain of the back doesn't match the grain of the body?
I thought Step 1 would be to cut the whole box to shape, then Step 2 would be to slice off the back. From your pics it seems you're taking a different approach, so I'm curious as to the how and why.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, yes you’re correct, you do slice the back off first, and that is what I did. Unfortunately when I glued it back on, I put it upside down! Cheers Harry
Ps. I hadn't shaped the outside of the boxes' shape till after I glued the back on. Reason being the wood was too thick for my bandsaw to cut through all at once.

Well! That is quite something. Very eligant. It opens up a lot of new ideas dun't it..
I can see why you did the hole cutting before the outer shape. It would have been quite fragile the other way round. My ambition is to grow old disgracefully. So far my ywife recons that I'm doing quite well! John.
