Into the Light
Bandsaw box construction (actually any woodwork) has been few and far between over the past few years. Thanks to the forums I can track the inactivity, November 2011, August 2014, and now December 2016.
Into the Light carries on from Out of the Shadows (Out of the Shadows). Very similar theme that was thrown together for the work Kris Kringle gift last Christmas.
Timber species are a bit of a mixed bag as I am finding the thicker larger stock harder to come by lately. There is some blackwood, tas oak and I suspect jarrah for the red stripe. Whilst difficult to tell from the photos the size is a little larger than I would have liked. The need to centre the jarrah between the other layers resulted in the box being deeper than I would have liked and as a follow on to get proportions it was all together a little larger.
The recipient seemed to like it .... I think she was a little taken back that for the $15 KK I went to the effort to actually make something. Not my best effort all round but I am a little rusty!

Cheers
Stinky.
Edit: I have given up trying to get the images rotated the correct way. I have never had problems before so I don't know what is going on.Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.
