Lismore show
Not much activity here lately so here is a bit of trivia.
Spent the last three days at the Lismore show doing a demo with a woodturning mate. Took along some boxes and made a few on the spot. We decided to do one that would combine our activities so my mate turned up the top and bottom of a piece of ordinary camphor and let me do something with the middle. So I made it so it had a drawer opening on each of the four faces, shown in the pictures. It is still in the rough, might finish one day. It did give me an idea for a box with 3-4 drawers on each face, maybe on a lazy susan. Next year!
I made a few puzzle boxes with a secret drawer to amuse the kids and put jelly beans in the drawers as the prize if they got that far. I went thru three big packets of jelly beans, nearly drove me mad! Big kids got as many as the littlies. My three year old granddaughter got one opened in under three minutes!
It was a lot of fun, if a bit tiring for us old buggers, but we will do it again next year I guess.

Onya Baz, well done. Enough of the "us old buggers" you've got at least 20 years bandsawing left !
I hope you sold heaps - always a nice reward.Tony Ward

Sounds like the show was a lot of fun. Love those puzzle boxes you made Barry, very nice work. It is great to see kids trying to open puzzle boxes.

Thanks for the nice comments folks, just thought I'd revive this section as it had been quiet for a while.
The puzzle boxes weren't that good as I had to make them just before the show on a new 18 inch bandsaw with roller guides not ideal for a little one eighth blade; so the dovetails are a bit wobbly. (Got the saw singing now with the little blade!). But the kids loved them so it didnt matter.
We didnt go there to sell stuff, Tony, but I did get rid of a few. As I turned 72 this year I am not sure about another twenty years at the coalface! I'll give it a go or die in the attempt! Have you any recent masterpieces to make us think "Now how did Tony do that?" ?
Regards to everyone.
