Question-Cutting Off Backs
A Novice question, new to Band Saw and Boxes. When you all cut the Backs off the box, do you cut with the 'back' against the fence, or the Front of box against the fence? May sound silly to most, but for me a valid inquiry, Thanks.

Hi, Have not made any for a while but used to keep the back to the fence which I feel is safer to feed through having more to hold onto. Cheers and good luck.Brian

Question-Cutting Off Backs
Either way but if you run the back of the box against the fence then you do not need to adjust it again if you are doing a number of boxes of varying thicknesses.

bandsaw boxes
Either way it makes no difference, also when i laminate boards to make a bandsaw box i thickness one board to eight mm and use that for the back much easier, you don't have to worry about bandsaw drift it is proberly cheating

Question-Cutting Off Backs
Where would the forum be if we didn't ask questions??? Perhaps sitting through countless hours of poorly produced home videos hoping they may address the question at hand?
What on the surface may be a simple question for some can often bring out some new ideas and thoughts from fresh perspectives.
Despite making many bandsaw boxes in the past I hadn't considered not laminating the back on at the start, whilst I don't see myself doing this method it is interesting to know how others do it.Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Hi, I agree with Sir Stinkalot making the back seperately is one of those "'Why did I not think of that moments"'. Cheers.
