    Default Whale of a time

Although I got the sequence of cuts a little bit mixed up, I got there in the end . Nothing a little wood glue can't fix. These little boxes are addictive, plus they make you think.

    You clever devil!
Don't ever get the mechanics mixed up with the art.
The concept & design are a dream. The bright wood contrasts work well.
The tail draws (I call them drawers) are just too sneaky!
I hope that my D1 and D2 never see this.

Hi , thank for the comments, the dimensions are 8 1/2" x 3" x 3". Just been out changing the blade on my Ryobi band saw again. Third blade I've changed , it went bang and a 6" bit of the blade smashed through the viewing window of the saw. If your contemplating buying a band saw, stay away from Ryobi, it is rubbish.

btw - where do your design ideas come, as they are very original.

    cheers.

Thanks Ray, that's quite a compliment. The ideas come out of my head, but it's just symmetry really. Ha, just looked up how to spell symmetry and this is two of it's meanings
"Symmetry (from Greek συμμετρεῖν symmetría "measure together") generally conveys two primary meanings. The first is an imprecise sense of harmonious or aesthetically pleasing proportionality and balance;[1][2] such that it reflects beauty or perfection. The second meaning is a precise and well-defined concept of balance or "patterned self-similarity" that can be demonstrated or proved according to the rules of a formal system: by geometry, through physics or otherwise."
In the end, we all just want to make something beautiful don't we? Cheers Harry
Ps. I hope they keep coming

Thanks Wood Hacker, The sequence is something like this-

    1. Cut back slice off main body
    2. Cut out large drawer
    3. Cut off front slice of large drawer only. Not the back
    4. Cut out small drawer
    5. Now cut off back slice of large drawer which now has the hole for the small drawer in it
    6. Make cavity above small drawer to be the large drawer
    7. Glue front and back to large drawer body
    8. Cut two slices off front of small drawer, throw one away, to shorten small drawer to allow the small drawer knob to sit flush
    9. Cut slice off rear of small drawer
    10. Cut out cavity of small drawer
    11. Glue front and rear slices of small drawer
    12. Glue knob on small drawer
    13. Take two Panadol
    14. Glue rear slice to main body
    15. Glue drawer knob to large drawer

    It’s as simple as that
    Cheers Harry

Ps. Could anyone let me know if I've left anything out.

If I only knew. Actually, you gotta sit down with pencil, eraser and paper and draw till your blue in the face and hope something smacks you between the eyes.
