I really cannot understand why some people find the imperial system difficult to work with!!

Sure, but which imperial system are you talking about exactly? American, British, Chinese, Japanese.... several different imperial systems are still in daily use in many parts of the world. Mostly confined to some traditional industries and trades though.
For example, highly prized Japanese wood chisels or swords still come in imperial sizes of "sun" and "bu". One Japanese bu is 0.1193 inch. Not to be confused with one Chinese bu which is 550 Japanese bu. You may find this interesting: Bu Conversion Chart (Distance and Length Converter, Chinese Imperial)
But then, some people know several phone-books backwards, they would certainly not have any problem with imperial conversions. Chris

Now I am worried. I clicked on your link! Got the following
"404. This place does not exist"
"Congratulations on opening this secret layer!"
"This place does not exists. Either it was never created or already gone."
"Congratulations!
You've reached a secret layer by breaking into a place that does not exists. Not many people were ever here. Don't be afraid though, you're not the first one. And there is a way out."
and at the end
"Hope you'll find your way out quickly. Have a good day and don't come here again."
Should I expect a visit from Tommy Lee Jones or something.

I found it, and I am still alive!
CHI. Chinese imperial. Its mostly metric based, sort of.
100 li = 1.5 yin, 15.0 zhang, 30.0 bu (odd man out), 150.0 chi, 1,500.0 cun.......
So 66.6666666666 li = 1.0 yin, 1.0 zhang, 20.0 bu, 100.0 chi, 1,000.0 cun.......
Easier than British Imperial by a long shot except it confused the heck out of my spell check.
