Thread: 11mm nut no such thing

Have we actually solved the original problem???
If the nut is just a jam nut to stop the 'real' nut from loosening up, you can try Locktite (clean the metal with some brake cleaner spray to get rid of oil first) and that will give you pretty good results, or you can go weird and try safety wiring or some sort of locking plate. Drill the shaft to take a lock pin or cotter pin?

I laugh, ha ha ha.
None of you blokes own old D series Citroens.
Thread sizes are 5,7,9 AND 11mm
To complicate matters, up until 1967 the 5mm threads had a 0.75mm pitch, then went to the current ISO standard of 0.80mm pitch.
For yuks and grins, the old 7 x1mm had 12mm heads, the later ones 11mm heads.
5s were always 8mm heads no matter the pitch. When you mix them it's a bitch.
Being a sucker for punishment I have both a 1966 and a 1974.
Okay, now it's your turn, have a laugh.
cheers

Sorry to drag this thread up to the top but if you look at the current DIN 4503 / ISO 1222 standards you will find that it is 1/4 & 3/8" UNC for new equipment manufacture.
Agreed you will find very little reference anywhere to this move to eliminate an 'internationally' awkward (55deg) thread.
