Hi Phil
same as Joe Ray and Stuart et al. I am available for any assistance you require (do not hesitate to ask). I have already put in for both those days off. Come hell or high water I will be there, even if it is just to meet other forum members including the legendary BT (you had better turn up Bob). You guys are in for a treat as not only will you learn the basics of scraping but you will experience the culinary delights of the master chef Phil. Wow, scrape and cook, now theres a combination you don't hear everyday. Of course not forgetting the cameraderie of a group of like minded blokes all doing the same thing.
One thing not on the list of things you should bring with you is the ear plugs for Marco's jokes. You have to learn to smile and nod while wearing them.
About the only down side is my bench mate Bryan won't be there. Still, ya never know...

I forgot to mention, I’ve been contacted about it twice today. My workshop is in THOMASTOWN.

In for a pinch...
OK boys. I just booked a single room at Mahoney's Motor Inn. 3 nights @ $125 a night. There are various rates available, that is the internet rate, the cheapest.
The Excelsior does not post rates on their website and our useless IInet BoB phone is on the blink so I couldn't ring to find out.
Now for a flight.

Bob.
That’s a good choice, I put people in there when I have visitors.
I dug up the post from last year, the Excelsior was $75 single / $90 double back then.

Mahoney’s Inn is just that bit better, and probably quieter. There both within walking distance, 200m. If most of you guys are staying in the one general area, we would probably plan to have Sat night dinner at the Pub.
And I’d note of the 11 or 12 I have on the list, only 1 is from Melbourne, the rest are all interstate.
Regards Phil.

Take her with you. Must be something she wants to see or do in Melbourne?

Gents.
I’ve just had another confirmation, that’s 11 locked in, and 2 others, keen to be here, but depending on work commitments. (Pete F & Russell C). There on the "Get here if you can make it list"
The latest guy is Christian G. Must be a decent bloke, a local from out south west, Melb. He’s offered to pick up however many he can carry of his way past. He’s all ready a member here.
We lost Phil T’s boss , Craig from Ballarat, something about a first grandchild due in Cairns that very weekend. I couldn’t talk them into inducing on the previous Tuesday.
We still have room for a couple more, so if you know of any one? And that will about close it up.
Regards Phil.

Gents.
I’ve had another commitment today. Rodd P. A member here, and some of you guys would know him from the trip we did to Sovereign Hill before Christmas. So welcome aboard Rodd.
That’s 12 plus our 2 fence sitters, for a potential 14. We had 15 in here last time, so still room for one or two more.
Does anyone have a picture of those EDM wire cut K20 inserts from last time? I want to gauge interest. If its worth doing a batch of them again.
Regards Phil.

They are tricky things to get a good picture of.

Thanks for that Stuart. As you can see from the picture, I get them wire EDM cut with 2 x 60mm radius, and 2 x 90mm radius, plus safety corners. They’re pretty much ready to go, for the bulk of work. Only scraping class in the world, where you get the option of those.
The last lot were $25, and I ended up doing my nuts on them. Only due to giving them to a client that owed me a favour with a wire machine. He got an apprentice to do it as a training exercise. I thought there would be some supervision involved. I give them enough carbide to get 30 inserts out of. I only ended up with 17, and they destroyed the balance of the carbide. $500 bucks worth.
The Sandvik ones run around the $60 mark. The part number is 620-2525-H10, if any one wanted to get a quote. The Sandvik ones are good for gasket scraping, they have a huge radius. As you can see in Stuart’s picture. Its 300mm but may as well be flat, they need re-grinding to tighten up the radius.
I’ll be getting these cut commercially this time, so its going to cost. If I could bring them in for the $40 mark, how’s that sound?
These give you the very easy option of making up your own clamp style hand scraper.
Regards Phil.
