Default 30 tooth gear for Herless lathe needed

I have recently bought a secondhand Herless lathe made in 87, I assume in Taiwan. With my limited knowledge of lathes, it appears to be in good condition. It is missing a 30 tooth gear (required when cutting some metric threads) I thought, no worries hare and forbes have taken over herless, I'll get a replacement off them. The best they could offer was to come in and look over the current lathes and see if one had a similar gear.
I wonder if anyone with a 30 tooth gear that is still available, measuring 40.07mm overall diameter, 20 mm thick, with a 18.86 mm hole (I could adapt if not the same) could give me a make, model etc so that I may purchase a new one. Or, maybe someone could make me one. I can supply one to copy (brother in law happens to have the same lathe with the gear I need.
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. thanks Kentower

What you want is a a gear with a 1.25 module pitch 19mm bore.
Did you try the Sydney office of H&F.
Most of the lathes of your size will have the same size gearing.
If you can ask them if they have any change gears in 30 teeth to suit an AL340.
Even if you cant get a gear of the exact width you can either machine it to length or make a spacer to bring it to 20mm long.
It will need to have a 5mm keyway in it,if you cant get one with a key as a replacement you will either have to get a key cut in it or shag around cutting it on the lathe or fileing it,wouldnt really matter if the keyway is a bit oversize as its only there to provide drive.

I have contacted Hare and Forbes in Sydney. I don't quite know whether I just got fobbed off. The spare parts man said he was in an office and that the parts were elsewhere and that everything was computerised. I gave him the dimensions. He might be able to get someone to have a look, but it might take a couple of days. I will sit tight for a couple of days. Kentower

No response from Hare and Forbes. So I'm still looking for someone that can give me a machine make and model etc with a similar 30 tooth gear that can still be purchased. Come on, there must be someone out there with that can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks Ken

Thanks Bryan, I think you may have put me on the right track. I won't use the firm you suggested (I think mild steel will be the go). I'll find one here or overseas that will do the lot (put the keyway in as well). However, I will wait a few days hoping someone will come up with one similar off a current machine.

    I just checked my Toolex 12x36 lathe and I only have a 28 and not a 30.

Pipeclay,Yes. I,ll get you to get one for me. I have just gone out and given it a complete measure with a micrometer. Just been looking at this site, trying to work out if I can contact you via it (it seems I can't) do you need a phone or email contact (or vice versa)
