G/day NCArcher, thanks again, I didn't get any "E'z" today, I turned off the sensorless vector control as Ray suggested and rechecked that I had the motor parameters set correctly and the motor spun up to 50hz, it measured 1750 rpm at the spindle at that and I was able to reduce and increase the rpm with the MF1 & MF2 buttons, but not beyond 50 hz. I was hoping that I would adjust the rpm by turning the knob? At 20 hz in low range it had 80 rpm, still a bit quick, no prob's I can now adjust the ratio since I had to pull the motor off again anyway to do the sensorless vector control run, also pulled the brgs out of the motor as I thought if I didn't do them now I likely will in 6 mths or so, might be a few days before I put it back together now.
I also have a bit of run out on the motor shaft, I could hear a slight vibration noise and a quick check when I got the motor off showed a bit of run out on the variable pulley sheeve, it is likely that this is what caused most of the wear in the spindle and pulley sheave splines.
When I get the motor back on "ll no doubt be picking your brains again, and thanks for the PM
thanks...shed

G/day Chris, I am reading and trying to decipher the instruction book, in fact the more I read it I can't help but think that it is possibly a Chinese translation from an advanced extraterrestrial technology that they have somehow pirated, sorta seems like chingloalieno to me.
On pg 154 it says "RS485 standard interface Can communicate with all computer
Using multi-drop link system, can link more to 127 inverters"
I seriously don't want to go there, not even 1 laptop.
It's got me beat, I'll just be happy if I can turn that knob and spit chip's.
thanks.......shed

haha.... if only life was that simple, to get the belt off, the variable drive and adjustment mechanism has to be removed off the spindle, then the belt has to come off when you lift and juggle the 40-50 kg motor off with the spring loaded variable drive and hanging off the bum of the motor through a hole that the pulley only just fits, while I'm up the ladder hanging on by my whatsit with my duds at my ankles because I took the wrong belt off first
thanks for the confusion m8........shed

I have spent quite a lot of time with this sensorless vector drive now, I read the book backwards and forwards and back again and again, reset the controller to factory specs several times and re input the motor specs and the parameters I required, I did internet searches to try to understand what I didn't until I was fairly sure I wasn't being a dill.
I spoke to the person I bought it off to try and iron out this problem, after a bit of prompting the answer to the problem is that Powtran have said that there is a software bug in the PI8100 models, if I want the sensorless vector drive to work I have to buy the later model...sshhheeeezzzz $^%#@*&%
I am going to return the POS to the seller and he will refund me and then I will be hitting aliexpress.
On the bright side, if anyone wants me to program their space shuttle PM me

G/day all, I had a good Chat on the blower with Chris today about his and NC Archer's experience's with these Powtran VFD's and the company that manufacture's the product, and my problems.
Chris supplied me with an email address and name for the company representative and encouraged me to contact him regarding my problem, thank you again Chris
I sent my email at 1:42pm and got a reply from Powtran at 2:17pm, the response that I received was honest, apologetic, open and helpful, I must say that it made my day.
Yes there was a problem in the software for the P18100 model that I have (for the sensorless vector drive program) and he offered me the new model to suit my requirements, total cost including freight = $191.19 AUD, it is now paid for and hopefully on the back of a donkey or a Yak and on the way to the airport

ps. dunno bout you guys, but it really duz my head in when these electwonical things don't do what they are told, especially a new one that SHOULD work out of the box, at least with a mechanical problem it is normally easy to find or obvious, you know, like you when see oil on the floor and then follow the drips up and see your engine has chucked a leg outta bed, or like if'n your aeroplane won't fly, you can normally easily see the wing wrapped around a tree.
Not these damned electowonical gizmo's.......

I am glad to see what things turned out OK and I was able to help in some way. They are an awesome company to deal with and their response is typical and in no way exceptional at all. $191 is a smoking price BTW.
