I already have a colorbond fence 1.8m high. There are not any gates now.

I like to hang a gate next to the fence (the very standard one) but at 90 degrees.

One side of the gate preferably it will be right at a the position where two existing fencing panels meet. My thought is: I need to add rigid steel post and with it attached to the existing fencing posts. I wish everyone realize the fencing posts are not having a square or rectangler shape.

The gate can then be hung onto the new rigid steel post (such as a 50x50 1.6 mm gauge, hollow one which Bunnings sells). It is not practical to have the new post concreted as there are already old concretes in use with the fence post.

Question is: how can a new steel post be attached against the standard colorbond fence post? I can see two options:

a) let the two simply screwed together. I am not sure with this solution make sense, as I feel the standard colorbond steel post may not be strong enough for such purpose.
b) Bunning may be selling a special bracket designed for use with their colorbond fencing posts. The new steel post can be attached using a few of these brackets.

I am sure people should have some experience and they can let me know what is the best approach. BTW I plan to hang a gate between 900 - 1100 mm wide and 1.6m tall.
