You could make it easier by buying a 3/4 NPT plug and drill it out then run a 3/4 UNF tap through it. Job done.

In effect all I am looking for a barrel with threads on the outer and the inner . Something like the image below, but it can have a shoulder if it makes it easier to turn. Hope the picture works. All threads are parallel.
