Hi Guys,

I posted in another thread that I received a pair of BMW 80 mm diameter "Angel Eye" ring lights this morning in the post from Banggood, and promised to post pictures of them. Well here they are.

This is what I received in the post. Two rings of PCB material with eight groups of three LED's separated by 100 Ohm resistors, intended to run from 12 to 15 volts. Surprisingly when I checked, they only consumed 200 ma of current, which I thought was a little low for them. However they do work and as can be seen from the pictures below, produce an intense white light.

I used pads of double sided foam tape to attach one around the mill spindle. As can be seen the light is free of shadows and reflects from the shiny surface of the chuck and mill vise.

Before putting the light in place I used an old AC/DC wall wart that has a 12 volt at 0.6 amp capacity to power it. I cut the plug off the end of the wire and soldered the end in place of the red and black wires soldered to the light ring. I measured the voltage across the light at 12.5 volts when powered on, but nearer 15 volts from the wall wart without any load. Which is to be expected.

We will see how effective a light it is when I change the chuck to the milling one and start to use the mill.
