The Collins class subs are not an Australian design though, they were designed by Kockums in Sweden, based on one of their smaller subs and modified to suit Australian requirements.

I think that is an actual US legal requirement... That is why those aluminium hull catamarans that are made here, are now also made in the US... As well should the US want bushmaster vehicles, they would have to be made in the US as well..
Our technical capability is not that bad.... We still have a small but quite capable heavy machining capability.. Interestingly I read the other day should we wish to obtain nuclear weaponry, it is estimated we could produce a nuclear weapon in 12 months.. Of course that is not going to happen, but it shows what capability we still have....
Our best defense in Australia is a strong navy..... Anyone wanting to come here, has to do so by water.. Ships are quite vulnerable in the water, especially to submarines and modern anti-ship weapons... It is rumoured that those big US carriers are extremely vulnerable these days as anti-ship missiles get faster and faster and much more complex.Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

Hi,
That's a Centurion tank, designed by the Brits at the end of WWII and still used in a few third world countries today. We used them in Vietnam to great effect.
In regards to the ADI Bushmaster armoured troop transport, the Americans looked at buying them as a replacement to the Hummer and all their other ATTs but we couldn't supply the thousands they wanted and we wouldn't let them build their own in the US.
If any of our northern neighbours wanted to take over Australia our defence forces wouldn't help much. All they would have to is put as many people in as many boats and planes as they could and land them here, and hey presto, we're occupied without firing a shot. Our land mass and distance from anywhere else is our biggest defence.
Hoping not to sound too crazy.
Ben.
