Bollie7,
All the names and brands mentioned should give good performance though my preference is for Metabo stuff.....they are hard to kill and cheap and easy to get the batteries repacked when they eventually die.....BUT....and I might be missing your point here so please correct me if I am....your son's an apprentice and turning 21 right; and your thoughts went to a drill for him..???.....With all respect, there are other options that won't go flat or be outdated in a year or two, get pinched on a job or break down like a tool would ......if we put our collective minds to it am sure the Members here could come up with suggestions worthy of spending $500 for a blokes 21st that will undoubtedly be remembered and discussed on the job far longer than a drill would last him..............might not be tax deductable though.............just my 2 bobs worth............Lee
