It might help if you gave us a location other than Oz!

    But try

Dunno, but Capral in Kunda Park should be able to tell you.

    6 inches? :O
Hmm. Capral Express as stated above might be able to help. For about 1", if you need it or anyone else does, old bike handlebars can help. My dad had an old set of handlebars for a bultaco bike which was a solid piece of aluminium about 23mm in diameter. It turned beautifully

The smelters cast billet about that size but they'll probably want to sell you at least 500kg.

Have you (or anyone here) had experience with them? Are they reliable? It would be convenient to buy metals online as I am in a small country town where I can only obtain steel and some small aluminium.

on ebay search for "lathe". There's a bloke always listing various metals/sizes. He's approachable and can probably get small qty's.

    Usual disclaimers

I've seen his items on ebay. Do you reckon he works in a big workhop and gets free offcuts he sells or something?

You could try Steelmark or Onesteel.
