Back again to you Dave, Th photo i sent did actually arrive here in a sort of squashed form. You had to scroll to see it in its entirety. Don't know where it disappeared to. Sorry about that.
There is another long way around thingo, click onto:.
I'm hoping that one of you blokes can identify this machine. I did contact the people in Holland and i must say they were very nice. They printed a manual (PDF) for me and I bought a set of Steadies from them. So, no complaints from my end. It only surprises me that I had to go via Holland to get
a little satisfaction.

No problem with questions, ask away. I am sure I speak for everyone in saying thats what we are here for, and would rather help you before to do it right, than after when you need to repair damage done from not doing it right.
First up with your photos,
If you go into you pictures on your computer, right click on the one you want and a list will come up and one will be resize pictures, click on the resize pictures and a window will come up and will have small medium large handheld, pick large for this forum.
Then when your making your post go down to the bottom and click manage attachments, a new window will open and click on the top browse box.
You then are into your pictures on the computer and after finding the one you need select the one with (Large) after it as thats the one you resized.
After you have selected one or more photos click upload on that same window and it will attach to your post automatically and you will see the file name under manage attachments.
With you oilers, if you cant get behind them I find an easy out works, or a self tapping screw, then place a piece of cardboard on the part beside it to stop damage and lever it out with a pair of pliers or something similar.
Some can be a pain to get out and you need to resort to drilling them.
I think if you contact Ewan he has a heap coming from the UK and you maybe able to buy a few from him. Ewan said he is buying more than he needs and if members here need a few he will have some supply. Just contact him to sort out the details, but there cheaper from the UK by far.

Hi Mate,
Don't give up just yet, just 4-5 years ago I was just where you are now with computers and forums..
Like Joe said a copy and paste wont work, you need to go through the process I put up above to get a picture here. Or link it to photo bucket, it''s a free hosting site for photos.
That link just takes me to a page.

You didn't copy the entire URL.
Should look like this:

Hi H,
As Dave said above i have a stack of spare oilers- the smallest ones are 6mm, not 5.5 but it is pretty easy to drill out the hole and put the larger ones in. I am more than happy to send you a few, not sure how much H&F will charge you but i think i paid less than 20p each.
Nice looking machine as i have said before (about my shaper), its not the size or the speed.........1915 17"x50" LeBlond heavy duty Lathe, 24" Queen city shaper, 1970's G Vernier FV.3.TO Universal Mill, 1958 Blohm HFS 6 surface grinder, 1942 Rivett 715 Lathe, 14"x40" Antrac Lathe, Startrite H225 Bandsaw, 1949 Hercus Camelback Drill press, 1947 Holbrook C10 Lathe.

Hi Ewan,
I reread my reply above about the oilers you bought, and I hope I did not give the wrong impression of you where giving them away. I should have phrased it better when I said you had bought extras to share with members.
Sorry about that. and I could edit it if you like? Just let me know tonight so I can still edit it.
Dave
PS
I edited it anyway to save any confusion.

Hi H and Dave,
Dave,
I tried to download that download you suggested and like H all I got was an icon on the desktop that went no where but unlike H I did it 3 times and ended up with 3 icons.
H,
I normally open my pictures up in Microsoft Office Picture Manager then click edit and resize down (or up) until the first number is just under 1600 pixels and then save it.
To post the pic, I click on 'Post Reply' in the forum then click the paperclip at the top of the reply box. This opens up a manage attachments box. In this box you have a column of empty boxes with 'Browse' next to each empty box. Click on 'Browse' and locate the pic you want. When I find the pic I want, I double click it and it goes to the manage attachments box. Click on the next 'Browse' under that and select the next pic. When you have the pics you want in the 'manage attachments' box click on 'Upload' and make a cup of coffee. When they have uploaded click on 'preview post' and see what it looks like.
I know this is confusing but I hold the title as 'Worst explainer' on this forum

Hi Ewan, the oilers from H&F are
HAFCO PART NUMBER: LR016
PARTS DESCERIPTION: OILER (6mm) #16
PRICE: $4.40 GST INCLUSIVE (EACH)
LOCAL CARTAGE: $9.90 GST INCLUSIVE (NSW
Those are the B'bane prices and if you could let me have 4, I'll naturally pay you the price you are asking for. Just let me know how to go about the 'transaction' and we'll take it from there.
Thanks, H

Hi Phil, I'm somewhat relieved that I'm not the only one who was unsuccessful with this particular download. I also had three icons on the screen as the damn thing just kept dowloading when I thought
it would something different. I also got a couple of spamfighters that invited themselves onto the screen.
I'll keep on trying, using your method and give Daves instruction another go. H

Hi Joe, yes, that's her. Sorry about the website mix up. I contacted the Dutch firm when I finally found the machine on the internet and they were good enough to post me a PDF of the manual. I also bought a set of steadies from them.
On my machine at the front of the headstock it says: Mectec Australia. My guess is that somebody
imported a few of these machines and had them branded Mectec but went broke.. I bought it of a bloke who had 4 of them. He's still got one in a box, new. Mine was on a stand and in a very dirty state, full of some red gunk and dust. But it cleaned up well and I'm quite happy with the purchase. Unfortunately I'm limited spacewise and I put the machine on Castors as I have to pull it out of it's allotted slot for belt or gear changes.
I'm now on the look out for a 3/4 to 1 hp variable speed motor as the belt-changing business is a
bit of a pain. Again, if anyone can give me some info about variable speed motors and where best to get one, I'd be thankful.
Now I'll get back to this picture posting job. H
