BM-30A Lubrication
I've just had my new BM-30A mill delivered, reading the manual has me a little confused - maybe other owners could help...
According to the manual there should be oiling points for the 3 sets of ways but there are none that I can see on mine. It also mentions a plug in the middle of the table that is removed to oil the lead screw but I cannot find that either. There are lots of pipes running from the hand pump on the side, I'm wondering if they lead to all the oiling points and my manual is incorrect.
Along the same lines, the manual mentions oiling the elevating screw but mine appears to bee fitted with a grease nipple and the area is greasy so, again, is the manual wrong?
Finally (for the moment), the manual refers to oiling the quill bearings (point 3) with Vactra Medium Heavy oil, what are current owners using at that point.
It also mentions oiling the "spindle bearing/quill feed" (point 2) daily but mine is fitted with a grease nipple and a label saying "grease" - hence my suspicion that parts of the manual may be obsolete.
