Default what are these boring bars used for

Hi how is every one.I did look on google just thought it would be better to ask on here.
What are they used for and how are they mounted? the cutter end has a taper and drive slots.
the other part is just a big bit of thick walled tube with a flat on one side.
looks like spell check has turned it self off.

Looks more like a facing cutter for some sort of CNC machine. I don't know what the taper is but I'm sure someone else here will know.

It looks very similar to a Rough boreing head.

It is a boring tool, Walter brand, they would call it a modular boring system. You can stack those extensions to get more reach. Yours would be missing the spindle end, it would normally have a Cat or BT #50 shank.

The two tips keeps them balanced and reduces cutting deflection. You normally set them for your target dimension, with an indicator. With a bit of practice they can be set quite fine. Normally used on a horizontal boring mill.
