    Default THE Metal planer

Hi all, glad you liked seeing it do something, me too.

Regarding the cutting speed Ueee, I'll have to lengthen the stroke and time the forward stroke and work out the metal cutting speed for the four speeds. That example on the video was in third gear, the gear box is a 4 speed small car box. It was a quick rather unprepared test run as well.
All the planers I've seen on Youtube seem to run fairly slow, likely because of the mass of the table having to change direction rather quickly, especially so if a decent sized job was on it.

    Cheers.

Default AFM Tug 40 is in the building

Happy new year to one and all!!!

Well I got this machine back in late August 2012, finally got around to bringing it inside in December. 1500mm between centres and a 450mm swing, 5 morse taper tailstock.

Below is as received, original paint, paint chipped in a few places, back splash guard a bit knocked around and machine a bit untidy BUT it has done very little work and is in very very good condition, a winner .

    Another shot as received.

Here it is in it's spot, I had to move the Chin Hung lathe in further and around a corner. I have yet to fit steel pads under and level it, but have used it and it's all good.

There are some more pics of the AFM and move here

Now the Chin Hung lathe move

Getting it up on machine skates

Here it is up on skates

It's new spot and on steel blocks, I have since levelled it up

Good luck to all for 2013.

    Cheers.

Lathe is Polish, they make em pretty heavy duty

Yep the grinder was unloaded here on behalf of my brother in law, it's in his shed at his house.

The truck driver also unloaded a Pacific FTV-2 milling machine, for me.

    As Received

All slideways are similar to this

Here cleaned up, I have since fitted convoluted slideway cover on front and a neoprene "skirt" on back.

    Hi .RC.,

    Yep that's right.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and the big shed is being well utilised.

    Cheers.
