    Default Box Trailer Standards

    Hi

Does anyone have a link to the standards for home built box trailers (And NSW if possible?)

Have googled till I went goggly but got nowhere and even the RTA was of no use.

Anyone built and registered one lately

    cheers

You should be able to get a booklet from the RTA(I got mine from VIC Roads), which covers all the requirements. I used to have a copy on hand from my metal fab days for when I did repairs and mods to trailers
    Cheers

    Hi Dazzler,

I got some stuff from the RTA here in Tamworth. Just found the major one on the web - http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/publi...ads_vsb_01.pdf.
The RTA website should cover the rest, like registering an unregistered vehicle, AUVIS (Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme) and local weighbridge (? - may need to chase that last one).
The DOTARS stuff looks heavy going at first but starts to make sense after a couple of read throughs.
I haven't quite got around to building mine yet!

    Regards,
    Richard

The Vehicle Standards Bulletin applies for all states and territories in Aus. I would just call the RTA and check, but so long as you build the trailers to the requirements listed there you should be right!
Have a nice day - Cheers

    Hi WB,

I should have expressed it better

The Dotars link is the exact same stuff I got from the RTA on paper. Could I find it on the RTA site? I searched and searched and got dozens of pages to sift through...

    ciao,
    Richard
